Fast AVI MPEG Splitter is a program designed to split your AVI and MPEG files into smaller pieces. It is a very easy program. All you have to do is to add the file you want to split into the program's main window, then play the file, select the start and end points and finally hit the Split button.
There are several ways to get your files cut. One of them is to select the start and end point as I mentioned before. Another one is to split the video file into as many pieces as you want. To do that you just have to type the number of video files you want to get from the original one. The last way of getting your files separated is to split them by time, i.e., telling the program to cut, say, every ten minutes.
The program supports AVI and MPEG files as input formats. In the program's main window you can set the output directory. Sometimes it's good to place the output files directly to your desktop so you can find them easier.
Even though the program is easy to use and the graphical interface is very intuitive, there is a help menu that gives you advice on how to use the program properly. This is not a free program, but you can download a free trial version from the developer's website. One thing to take into account is that the free trial version does the same as the registered version, with the exception that it only splits fifty percent of your files.

However, it is stated that the trial version will only split 50% of the file, but I find that the resulting files is not total in size to 50% of the original 40 GB (20 GB), but is split into 10 files of each 1 GB, i.e. apparently only 25% of original size, not 50%?!
Perhaps, the resulting AVI vidios are compressed, but the original file was not.
I will not pay for a program that I do not know for 100% sure, if it can do the job well of splitting very long uncompressed AVIs into pieces of uncompressed AVI format correctly!
I suggest that the creater either gives a very limited number of free split trials (5 should be enough to evaluate the program) with 100% functionality, or could put on a "watermark" trial version, in the middle of the resulting split parts, which will be removed, as soon as the registration code is entered.
This way full functionality can be tested before buying.
